CATARACT
CATARACT CONSULTATION
What assessment do I need before cataract surgery?
- It’s very important to let us know if you have previous Lasik/laser vision correction surgery.
- These are the tests you will require:
- Refraction.
- Confirm latest glasses power.
- Check previous glasses and stability.
- A-scan.
- Measurement eyeball length and corneal curvature.
- Topography.
- Fine measurement of corneal curvature.
- Pupil size measurement.
- OCT – Optical Coherence Tomography scan.
- Confirm cornea integrity.
- Ensure macular and optic nerve health.
- Provide potential visual prognosis after cataract surgery.
- Dry eye assessment.
- If you have dry tear films it will affect test accuracy.
- Treatment may be required before repeating the above tests.
- Refraction.
Repeat tests do not incur extra costs but will require a return to the clinic for our clinical staff to re-measure and assess.
