CATARACT

CATARACT CONSULTATION

What assessment do I need before cataract surgery?

  • It’s very important to let us know if you have previous Lasik/laser vision correction surgery.

  • These are the tests you will require:
    • Refraction.
      • Confirm latest glasses power.
      • Check previous glasses and stability.
    • A-scan.
      • Measurement eyeball length and corneal curvature.
    • Topography.
      • Fine measurement of corneal curvature.
    • Pupil size measurement.
    • OCT – Optical Coherence Tomography scan.
      • Confirm cornea integrity.
      • Ensure macular and optic nerve health.
      • Provide potential visual prognosis after cataract surgery.
    • Dry eye assessment.
      • If you have dry tear films it will affect test accuracy.
      • Treatment may be required before repeating the above tests.

Repeat tests do not incur extra costs but will require a return to the clinic for our clinical staff to re-measure and assess.
