Watery Eyes

Watery eyes happen when your eyes produce too many tears or when the tears can’t drain properly.

What are the common causes of watery eyes:
  • Blocked tear ducts
  • Eyelid problems (like entropion or ectropion)
  • Dry eyes
  • Allergies or irritation
  • Infections

 

What are the symptoms of watery eyes?
  • Constant tearing or “watery eyes”
  • Blurry vision
  • Irritated or red eyes

 

What are the treatments?
  • Lubricating eye drops
  • Treating eyelid issues
  • Opening blocked tear ducts (sometimes with a minor procedure)

Dry Eyes

Dry eyes happen when your eyes don’t produce enough tears, or the tears evaporate too quickly.

What are the common causes of dry eye?
  • Aging
  • Long screen time
  • Blocked meibomian glands
  • Dry environment or wind
  • Certain medications
  • Systemic medical conditions like arthritis or thyroid disease
What are the symptoms of dry eye?
  • Burning or stinging
  • Gritty or scratchy feeling
  • Red or tired eyes
  • Blurry vision that comes and goes
  • Watery eyes
What are the treatments for dry eye?
  • Artificial tears or lubricating drops
  • Warm compress and massage
  • Prescription eye drops
  • Punctal plugs or cautery
  • Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT)
