Watery Eyes
Watery eyes happen when your eyes produce too many tears or when the tears can’t drain properly.
What are the common causes of watery eyes:
- Blocked tear ducts
- Eyelid problems (like entropion or ectropion)
- Dry eyes
- Allergies or irritation
- Infections
What are the symptoms of watery eyes?
- Constant tearing or “watery eyes”
- Blurry vision
- Irritated or red eyes
What are the treatments?
- Lubricating eye drops
- Treating eyelid issues
- Opening blocked tear ducts (sometimes with a minor procedure)
Dry Eyes
Dry eyes happen when your eyes don’t produce enough tears, or the tears evaporate too quickly.
What are the common causes of dry eye?
- Aging
- Long screen time
- Blocked meibomian glands
- Dry environment or wind
- Certain medications
- Systemic medical conditions like arthritis or thyroid disease
What are the symptoms of dry eye?
- Burning or stinging
- Gritty or scratchy feeling
- Red or tired eyes
- Blurry vision that comes and goes
- Watery eyes
What are the treatments for dry eye?
- Artificial tears or lubricating drops
- Warm compress and massage
- Prescription eye drops
- Punctal plugs or cautery
- Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT)
